The Yokohama Animal Emergency Care Center (VECCS Yokohama), which opened in June 2022, provides emergency care 24 hours a day as usual, even during the year-end and New Year holidays when many veterinary hospitals are closed. We are a veterinary hospital located at 1-chome Maesato-cho, Minami-ku, Yokohama, 30 seconds walk from Keikyu Koganecho Station.

Yokohama Animal Emergency Care Center (VECCS Yokohama) is a veterinary hospital that opened on June 1, 2022 in Minami Ward, Yokohama City, a 30-second walk from Keikyu Koganecho Station. When you cannot see your pet at your usual veterinary hospital, such as at night or on closed days, we will treat your pet as a pinch hitter for your usual doctor. This is an extremely rare and challenging facility in Japan that provides emergency medical care and intensive treatment for dogs and cats 24 hours a day. We want to support Yokohama’s dog and cat emergency system, which is getting tighter each year. Hiroaki Sugiura, a veteran veterinarian who has been involved in emergency treatment for dogs and cats for 10 years, serves as the representative and director, and 13 veterinarians and 18 veterinary nurses have joined the team with a strong sense of mission.
In the first year, we examined 5,500 dogs, cats, etc. and built up a track record. In 2023, its second year, VECCS Yokohama is becoming established as infrastructure in areas where critically ill animals gather. Additionally, in November 2023, we will be introducing a 64-row CT imaging device to provide even more in-depth emergency treatment.

Many veterinary hospitals will be closed during the year-end and New Year holidays (especially from December 30th to January 3rd), but VECCS Yokohama will remain open 24 hours a day. However, please note that we expect the clinic to be more crowded than usual, so waiting times may be longer, and the order of consultation may change depending on the degree of emergency. In addition, if you are concerned about the physical condition of your pet, please visit your regular veterinary hospital as soon as possible, understand the current medical condition and medication details, and check to see if there are any medications that may run out. We recommend that all owners keep them. Please do not hesitate to contact our hospital in the event of a sudden change in the condition of your pet, such as illness or accident during the year-end and New Year holidays.
