The five members of TOMORROW We also conducted a long interview in which we looked back on the leap forward in 2023 and talked about our thoughts for the future. The gorgeous appearance of the five people captured by Mika Ninagawa and their collaboration with the flowers are a must-see. We have prepared two themes for the opening special feature. The first one is “Ukraine, Gaza STOP WAR”. In recent years, there has never been a year in which I have been more conscious of “war” than this year. We will think about the current situation in Ukraine and Gaza and how we can end the war. The second special feature is “100 books you want to read right now.” It’s packed with interesting content, including bookshelves for book lovers and local books from 47 prefectures. “Weekly Asahi”‘s famous project “Don Konishi’s cool fashion check” is back! Let’s take a look at the outfits of the stars who colored 2023, including Shohei Otani and Sota Fujii. The popular series “Kohei Matsushita Junintoiro” continues with a conversation with actor Ken Mitsuishi. Please look forward to the talk that can only be heard here. The five members of TOMORROW The two albums released in Korea in 2023 achieved double million sales, they performed at the Kyocera Dome in Japan, and won the “Best MTV PUSH Performance Award of the Year” at the “2023 MTV Video Music Awards” in the United States. Special Feature 1: Ukraine and Gaza STOP WAR
We will think about the current state of the war, which is still unending, and what we need to do to end it. Experts harshly criticized Gaza, saying, “What is happening now in Gaza is genocide and ethnic cleansing.” Regarding the war in Ukraine, he is concerned about the growing “nuclear threat” and points out that “there is a risk of using nuclear weapons to prevent the war from escalating any further, which could lead to a global nuclear war.” So what is needed to overcome this current situation and lead to peace? He says that “dialogue” is the key word. Demonstrations to pray for peace were held all over the world. Let’s once again think about the world’s biggest challenges in 2023 while looking at these stunning photos.
Special feature 2: 100 books you want to read now
Many people are busy and don’t have time to read books. To encourage you to read during the year-end and New Year holidays, AERA has created a lineup of over 100 books that you want to read right now. We will be introducing the bookshelves of author Ichiriki Yamamoto, sumo/music writer Shizuka Wada, professional interviewer Go Yoshida, and political scientist Takeshi Hara, as well as selected books from their bookshelves. Additionally, there is a project featuring “Local Books from 47 Prefectures” that will make you feel like you’re back home just by reading the magazine. I have a rare book. In conjunction with this year’s news, experts in each genre also introduce
