Movie “Life is Climbing!”
Based on the concept of “Even invisible walls can be overcome,” Monkey Magic (Tokyo) is a non-profit organization that aims to realize a more mature and universal society that recognizes diversity through activities to popularize climbing for people with disabilities. Musashino City, Representative Director: Koichiro Kobayashi, hereinafter “NPO Monkey Magic”) will be released nationwide in May 2023 at the Musashino Performing Arts Theater near Mitaka Station in Tokyo on Sunday, January 14, 2024. We will also be holding a screening event of the documentary film “Life is Climbing!”
There are only two showings, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and reservations are required. You can also enjoy the movie with an audio guide for the visually impaired using the smartphone app UD CAST.
The morning session will be screened with English subtitles, and the afternoon session will be screened with Japanese subtitles, making it suitable for English speakers (those who do not understand or have difficulty understanding Japanese) and those who are deaf or have difficulty hearing. You can enjoy it. *The talk event after the screening will only have Japanese audio.

Koba (Koichiro Kobayashi), a climber who has lost his eyesight, and Naoya (Naoya Suzuki), a site guide who provides his sight. How the two met

Right, right, right!” Relying on the voice of his partner Naoya as if it were his own eyes, the climber connects him with a figure-eight rope and entrusts his life to climb the rock. Koba. Eventually, they won four consecutive Paraclimbing World Championships, and in 2021, they set out on a journey to the United States with the aim of standing on the spire of Fisher Towers, a bright red sandstone towering over the land of Utah.
Unimaginable nature, spectacular views of dynamic rocky mountains that took hundreds of millions of years to create, and a reunion with the benefactor who changed Koba’s life, blind climber Eric Weihenmayer, who has conquered the highest peaks on seven continents. . There was an extremely positive spirit, an overflowing smile, and an unshakeable bond between the two. Then, we headed to the destination of our trip, Fisher Towers. How does a climber who has lost his eyesight climb a mysteriously shaped rock spire, relying only on the voice of his partner?
