The Yokohama Eurasian Cultural Museum (Naka-ku, Yokohama, Director: Takeomi Nishikawa), which is managed and operated by the Yokohama City Furusato History Foundation (Representative Director: Makoto Sato), has been conducting a crowdfunding campaign since November 21, 2020. We have reached our initial support goal of 500,000 yen for “I want to build a statue of Admiral Perry in Yokohama! But as a statue (human sculpture)!”. We would like to ask for your continued support towards our next goal of 800,000 yen in order to further enhance the event. In the future, we will work together with the Statue Performance Association to prepare for the unveiling at the 4th Yokohama Eurasia Statue Museum, which is scheduled to be held near Nihon Odori in November 2024. We will create a statue (human sculpture) of Commodore Perry’s statue.
Reiwa 6 will mark 170 years since Matthew Perry, commander of the American East India Fleet, landed in Yokohama in 1854 and the Japan-US Treaty of Peace and Amity was signed. We hope that this will be an opportunity to look back on the history of the opening of the port. Crowdfunding overview
