Approximately 5 million people work in Japan’s construction industry, and the market size is over 60 trillion yen. However, due to the decreasing number of craftsmen due to the aging of the workforce, and the low labor distribution rate for craftsmen on-site due to the multi-layered subcontracting structure, the level of remuneration obtained is far from being sufficient, and the number of new employees continues to decline. Furthermore, in April 2024, the “Work Style Reform Related Act” will be applied to the construction industry. This will limit overtime work and reduce working hours per person, which is expected to exacerbate labor shortages.
The “division of labor strategy” is attracting attention as a strategy that makes it possible to reduce overtime. We aim to realize division of labor by utilizing existing in-house human resources and reduce the burden of work such as on-site supervision. An important position in the division of labor strategy is a new position called “Construction Director,” who provides on-site support from the back office using IT and communication skills.
