A cafe where mothers with children in the center of gravity and in medical care work is finally completed – 4 million yen raised through crowdfunding
*Thanks to 223 supporters, officially opened in April 2024*
SWC (Social Welfare Corporation) Ainomi (Head office: 100-2 Misawa Nakayama Kita, Izumi-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Chairman: Yuko Inui) is a social welfare corporation with children who have severe mental and physical disabilities or require medical care. We built a cafe using crowdfunding with the aim of creating an environment where mothers can participate in society.
* The cafe has been completed after raising 4 million yen through crowdfunding! *
For the construction of this cafe, 223 supporters donated 4,065,000 yen through crowdfunding through READYFOR.

We are grateful to the many people who have supported our project. The cafe was finally completed.
The cafe is scheduled to officially open in April 2024 after on-the-job training and pre-opening, and will be an experience-based cafe full of outdoor elements that will make you feel like you’re at a campsite.
* Background and purpose of cafe construction *
In fact, SWC Ainomitsu is working to help mothers of children with severe mental and physical disabilities and children under medical care find their “purpose in life” and go out into society, against the backdrop of the fact that families of children with severe mental and physical disabilities and children under medical care tend to be isolated from society. We are recruiting to attend. We aim to create a society where no family is left out by discovering new talents and ideas from mothers of children in critical care and medical care. Families of children with severe mental and physical disabilities and children under medical care are far from achieving a “normal life.” The children are wearing respirators and gastric fistulas. Most children cannot stand or sit.
Many moms haven’t been able to get more than two hours of sleep in a row for years. I feel anxious and inconvenienced even going to a convenience store or taking out the garbage. I gave up on being involved in society and shining brightly a long time ago.
– Chronic lack of sleep (71.1%)
– I feel strong anxiety when I don’t know how long the days will last (70.4%) – Unable to seek medical attention when their physical condition worsens (69.7%)
– Daily life is full of tension (68.0%)
– Unable to study to obtain qualifications (83.9%)
– Not able to work as desired (75.6%)
– It is extremely difficult to go out with children (65.3%) – Feeling isolated from society (51.3%)
Based on “Survey on the actual living conditions of children under medical care and their families”
Even with the full mobilization of social systems, technology, local institutions, and individual efforts, this remains a difficult problem. Welfare counters and services are diverse, and coordination and integration have not been realized. The needs of the child under medical care and the family are intricately intertwined, and neither can become the protagonist of their own life.
Mothers and children in medical care spend their days traveling back and forth between home and nursing care facilities. There is no way to realize that there is no place for mothers and their children to spend time under medical care, and there are no opportunities for them to connect with society. Employment opportunities for mothers of children in medical care are extremely limited.
Therefore, we thought it would be a good idea to create a cafe where mothers of children in medical care could work and create
opportunities for them to participate in society.
Therefore, what we want to create is not a “cafe,” but a “gai in life.” This recruitment is part of the “Sendai Abaiin Project,” which aims to help children with severe mental and physical disabilities and families of children under medical care find their “purpose in life.”

Families of children under medical care are desperately trying to survive. However, “living” alone is not enough. In the spring of 2023, the “Sendai Abaiin Project” has started.
This is a project that helps families with children under medical care not only “live,” but also “gain in life” and “ease of life.” It brings back memories of getting enough sleep, mom’s work, dad’s dinner, and family vacations.
“Abain” is a Sendai dialect and means “Let’s go together.” Let’s move together towards a future where no family is left behind and where they can find purpose and ease in life! It has a meaning. Looking for partner companies
Mothers working at cafes have various restrictions, and operating them requires different costs than usual. Therefore, we are looking for partner companies that can support this project by providing the goods necessary for the cafe and contributing the necessary sponsorship money to maintain the cafe.
