The Lake Biwa Museum is currently implementing a crowdfunding campaign called “To revive the aquatic exhibit! Please support the restoration of the tunnel aquarium | Lake Biwa Museum [Part 1]”, with the aim of achieving the second goal of 10 million yen by 2024. We would like to inform you that we achieved this on Friday, January 19th.
The second goal was to raise 10 million yen to cover part of the costs toward reviving the “Revival! Japanese Freshwater Fish” corner, but now the third goal is to revitalize this corner. We are aiming to raise 15 million yen, which is almost the entire cost. We would like to create an aquatic exhibit together with as many people as possible. Thank you for your continued support.

Shiga Prefectural Lake Biwa Museum’s crowdfunding campaign “To revive the aquatic exhibit! After that, from Saturday, December 9th, we set a second goal of 5 million yen, which is about half the cost of replacing the acrylic in the six aquariums in the “Revival! Japanese Freshwater Fish” corner, for a total of 10 million yen. I tried. As a result, we achieved the target amount on Friday, January 19, 2024, faster than expected. Thanks to everyone’s support and support, we were able to achieve our second goal. Once again, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

About the third goal

Japanese Freshwater Fish” corner exhibits fish bred at the “Conservation and Breeding Center,” which preserves the strains of Japan’s endangered freshwater fish, and the current situation where many freshwater fish are on the brink of extinction. We aim to make more people aware of this.
For the second goal, we set a goal of 5 million yen, which is about half of the cost required to replace the acrylic in the six aquariums in this corner, for a total of 10 million yen, but the support from everyone exceeded our expectations. Thanks to this, I was able to achieve my second goal.
In order to create an even more attractive aquarium exhibit room, we have set a third goal of 10 million yen, which is almost the entire amount required to replace the aquarium acrylic in this corner, and we would like to aim for a total of 15 million yen.
