■The growing momentum for privacy protection both domestically and internationally and the need for corporate privacy measures
Businesses and services that make full use of big data and AI are rapidly expanding, making daily life more convenient, but it has become a social issue that privacy protection can be threatened depending on how personal data is handled.
Overseas, specific legislation and countermeasures have been taken from early on, such as “GDPR (EU General Data Protection
Regulation)” and “CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act).” In November of last year, the first case of a Japanese company being fined for violating the GDPR (the fine was 64,000 euros *approx. 9.4 million yen) was made public, and it became a hot topic of discussion. Companies that expand overseas or that may have transactions with other countries must comply with the laws and regulations of each country.
In Japan, the revised Personal Information Protection Act came into effect in April 2022. This revised law strengthens individual rights over personal data and also strengthens penalties for legal
violations. In addition, in June 2023, the revised Telecommunications Business Act came into effect. In particular, the “external transmission regulations” of the revised Telecommunications Business Act have a wide range of regulations, so caution is required. In order for companies to use personal data appropriately, Priv Tech has developed Trust 360 Consent Management (CMP), a consent management platform (CMP) that obtains consent for the use of cookies from users who visit its website.
