DAIZ Engineering Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Koji Ochiai, hereinafter referred to as “DAIZ
Engineering”), in collaboration with NIZO Food Research B.V. (Headquarters: Ede, Gelderland, Netherlands, hereinafter referred to as “NIZO”), We have opened the DAIZ Engineering Europe Sprouted Food Tech Center in the Netherlands. As the first step of the
collaboration, the Food Tech Center will promote the development of “hybrid dairy products” that combine milk substitute products derived from animal-based dairy products and plant-based proteins. This new approach has the potential to lead to breakthroughs in solving the taste, nutritional, and sustainability challenges associated with protein transformation.
DAIZ Engineering and NIZO are pursuing further technological innovations in taste and nutritional functionality in the Netherlands’ Food Valley, where agricultural and food technologies from all over the world are gathered, and are working to create a rich and diverse environment where animal and vegetable raw materials coexist. We aim to contribute from the perspective of technology and science to the realization of a sustainable “dietary life” rich in nutrition.

DAIZ Engineering is a food tech venture that has a patented technology (“Ochiai High Pressure Method”) that uses the power of germination to activate seeds and bring out their functionality and nutritional value. We are developing egg substitutes and milk substitutes using our unique technology that brings the molecular structure of vegetable proteins closer to that of animal proteins. Furthermore, we are pioneering the development and popularization of “hybrid products” that combine animal proteins and various plant-derived proteins, with the aim of realizing a diet with rich choices and sustainable food development with less environmental impact. The collaboration between DAIZ Engineering and NIZO was established with the support of the Netherlands Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, Office for Enterprise Attraction (NFIA) Japan Office and the Eastern Netherlands Development Corporation (Oost NL), partners of the Invest in the Netherlands network. it was done. Oost NL carries out activities and projects focused on strengthening and revitalizing the economy of the Dutch provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel. Through its unique network and support system, the Invest in Netherlands network supported DAIZ Engineering in opening a new office and laboratory in NIZO, enabling a smooth entry into European business.
At the DAIZ Engineering Europe Germinated Food Tech Center newly established within NIZO’s facilities, we germinate various seeds (beans, wheat, nuts) using the Ochiai high-pressure method, and work with NIZO experts to evaluate their nutritional value, digestibility and absorption. We plan to evaluate and analyze the rate. Based on the specialized knowledge we have accumulated regarding plant proteins, we will develop new food ingredients and propose them to food
manufacturers around the world.
Furthermore, DAIZ Engineering is actively participating in
industry-government-academia joint research and development projects in the field of science, technology, and innovation that the Dutch government is promoting together with NIZO and Wageningen University. We will strive to contribute to solving issues facing the world, such as national security and protein shortages.
