To commemorate the release of The Street Sliders’ 40th anniversary visual history book, “The Street Sliders Rock’n Roll Chronicle,” an encore screening of The Street Sliders’ live film “Heaven and Hell LIVE AT BUDOKAN 1987″ is being held at Uplink Kichijoji. Atsushi Kamijo, a manga artist who has been connected to Sliders for over 35 years, took the stage.
The Sliders’ first Nippon Budokan performance, “Heaven and Hell”, was held on January 30, 1987. As it was Memorial Day 37 years later, the screening was attended by many fans who had attended the Budokan performance at the time, and Mr. Kamijo was one of those who had attended the Budokan performance at the time.

The first half of the talk was about Mr. Kamijo’s original drawings of Sliders, which are on display in the museum. Interesting stories continued, such as his commitment to composition that captures and embodies the best moments, and how he was influenced by the existence of Sliders when creating Atsushi Kamijo’s work “SEX”.

In the second half, Mr. Kamijo also shared an episode from the time he spoke with member Kohei Tsuchiya the other day before this talk event. “They said they were thinking about the exact same thing at the Budokan in 1985 and the Budokan last year. That was to play
properly… They were very serious, weren’t they? I like that seriousness of sliders. That’s why The tension…Harry sometimes laughs a little, but that tension is really good,” said Kamijo. Afterwards, we continued to have a valuable discussion about Sliders with Kazutaka Kitamura, former editor-in-chief of Player, who served as the moderator for the day, but it was time for the screening in the blink of an eye.

Encore screenings will continue until February 8th (Thursday). An exhibition of original drawings by Atsushi Kamijo and a photo exhibition of Mayako Miura, a photographer who has been photographing Sliders since their early days, are also being held inside the museum. ◆Junji Kamijo Profile
Born in Tokyo. Debuted in 1983 with the publication of “Mop★Hunter” in the “Shonen Sunday Special Issue”. “To-y” has been serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday” since 1985. His sharp drawings and unique sense of style have earned him the support of many fans. Since then, he has produced hit works such as “SEX”, “Red x Black”, and “8-Eight-”. The Atsushi Kamijo exhibition is scheduled to be held at the Yayoi Museum of Art in Tokyo from Saturday, September 28, 2024 to Sunday, December 22, 2024.

In November 1979, at the Fuchu Citizens Amateur Band Festival, ZUZU, Ranmaru, and Murakoshi were seen pouring alcohol on the audience and going wild. Murakoshi and Ichikawa are both 20 years old, Ranmaru is 18 years old, and ZUZU is 17 years old. In the spring of 1982, they became popular at the U.S. military camp in Fussa, where they were nicknamed “Little Stones.” In December, he was in charge of the theme song for the movie “Yoru wo Buttobasase” and had a SPECIAL LIVE at Shinjuku ACB to record the LIVE scene. Debuted on March 5, 1983 with the album “Slider Joint” and the single “Blow The Night!” from EPIC/SONY. Since the band’s formation, their overwhelming live performances have increased the number of members, and in 1987 they performed at Nippon Budokan for the first time. The Sliders are a band that sticks to their rock’n’roll style and beats without being bound by the times. Their popularity has gained support not only from fans but also from many artists and musicians, making them an absolute presence in the Japanese rock scene. In October 2000, they disbanded after their 689th stage. He has released 23 singles and 10 original albums. His work continues to have a great influence even today. 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of their debut. They reunited for the first time in 22 years after disbanding in 2000, and held a live performance at Nippon Budokan on May 3, 2023. In the fall, a nationwide TOUR [The Street Sliders TOUR 2023 “ROCK’N’ROLL”] will be held. A nationwide TOUR [40th Anniversary Final THE STREET SLIDERS “Thank You!”] will be held from March 2024.
