Furusato Manzai 2024” on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 1:55 pm to 3:20 pm.
In the program, talented comedians visit the hometowns of two of Reiwa’s biggest stars, Shohei Otani and Sota Fujii, to directly interview and discover the unknown charms of their hometowns and great figures. Each member creates and performs a manzai performance based on the stories they have collected from the town.
Milk Boy will go to Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, the hometown of Sota Fujii’s eight-time champion, and Slim Club will go to Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, the hometown of Shohei Otani, to fully capture the charm of the town.
Asakusa’s entertainment hall performs original manzai performances that make fun of the town’s charms. With MC Koji Imada and guest Michopa looking on, we look forward to seeing what kind of manzai he will perform!
●Slim Club to Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture
The team headed to Shohei Otani’s hometown, Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, was Slim Club, the runner-up of the M-1 Grand Prix 2010. Oshu City is the second largest city in Iwate Prefecture and is known as the production area for Nanbu ironware. When I started asking questions at Mizusawa Station, which I visited for the first time, I was told that the beauty salon run by the person who started Otani’s private cheering group is famous. When you visit the beauty salon, you will find the waiting area overflowing with precious Otani goods. Slim Club is also very excited about this! In addition, Slim Club and the owner were shown rare goods related to Otani’s famous quote before the WBC final, and Slim Club and the owner hit it off. They were able to find out from the owner about the “sacred place” that Otani went to as a boy, and about his favorite food that he missed even in America. Further interviews with the town’s residents revealed that, along with Otani, another thing the residents are proud of is the “black hole.” Slim Club heads to the observatory to find out the connection with Oshu City…

Milk Boy, the winner of the “M-1 Grand Prix 2019″, will head to Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, the hometown of Sota Fujii’s eight crowns. Seto City is known as the production area for “Setomono”, which is synonymous with ceramics, and the streets are lined with shops selling tableware and other items.
In a shopping street where banners supporting Fujii Hakkan are displayed everywhere, Milk Boy notices a boutique with a reproduction of a shogi score on its shutter. When we spoke to the owner, we learned that during title matches, many people gather around the Shutter Shogi board and have a great time, and every time they get promoted or win a title match, they celebrate by breaking
Kusudama.They call themselves “Japan’s best kusudama-breaking shopping street.” thing. There is also a famous restaurant in the shopping district that serves “Seto Yakisoba”, a favorite dish of Fujii Hakkan, and you can eat Milk Boy in 5 minutes with sticky noodles flavored with dashi soup without sauce. Furthermore, when we searched for locally loved gourmet food, we heard the word “terikake” on people’s lips. It is a “soul food” that Seto residents have enjoyed for a long time in school lunches, and it is said to be by far the number one menu item in elementary school popularity polls. Milk Boy is told, “If you don’t eat, you’re wasting your life,” so he decides to look for “terikake.”

●Entertainment hall bursts into laughter
The venue for the manzai performance was Mokuba-tei, an entertainment hall in Asakusa. While watching the interview video, Slim Club and Milk Boy convey the charm of the town, and MC Koji Imada and guest Michopa can’t stop laughing at the unique town people that appear in the video.
In addition, the soul food from Oshu City and Seto City that appeared in the VTR will also appear, and will Imada say “It’s delicious!” ?

The show is finally reaching its climax. This is Milk Boy and Slim Club’s original manzai performance. Both groups are feeling nervous, saying, “The seats are close to each other.” Then, Michopa made a request: “Please include the soul food you sampled earlier in your manzai!” The two groups, who have been practicing their manzai in preparation for today, are sweating profusely and asking, “Do you want to start now?” What was the content of the original manzai that can only be seen here to convey the charm of Oshu City and Seto City?
