This exhibition will display Yukai Engineering’s products and unreleased prototypes, as well as the results of a project at Musashino Art University that was created under the theme of “the partner robot you want.” At Yukai Engineering, we define a robot as a “machine that moves the heart,” and we have consistently created products that focus on “robotics as an expression,” such as
appearance, feel, and movement that resembles living things. Ta. “Robotics as an expression” takes a different approach from existing mechanical engineering, and as we repeat prototyping, we develop robots that are soothing just by being around them, or make us feel at ease just by looking at them. What is important is how to create expressions that touch people’s sensibilities and emotions. This is an area where the creative sensibilities of art college students can be put to good use. In recent years, this field of “robotics as expression” has attracted international attention and has begun to be called “Creative Robotics.” This exhibition, under the title “Creative Robotics,” will showcase Yukai Engineering’s prototyping efforts to date as well as efforts with students in classes at Musashino Art University.

To create the robot, I used Kokoro Kit+ (https://kurikit.ux-xu), which is currently on sale from the educational business Kutikit and allows you to easily create moving works and experience programming. .com/cocorokit-plus/). In addition, by increasing the variation of movement using motors, sensors, sliding kits, etc., it is now possible to create even richer expressions.

We also created and provided data for the necessary mechanical elements, etc., and printed them out on our own 3D printers, increasing the level of completion of the work. By using kurikit’s robot kits, even students with no experience in programming or building robots can create robots that embody unique ideas and expressions that they would like to create, not only in terms of modeling but also in terms of mechanical movement. .
