Just as typically developing children attend nursery schools or kindergartens when they are not in school, and attend after-school programs when they reach elementary school, children with severe mental and physical disabilities living in the community are provided with child development support and after-school day services, but there are needs for children and their families to use these services. Despite this, many regions still lack business establishments, and the number of establishments is expected to increase.
It’s not just that the increase is enough; the FY2020 disability welfare service fee revision also calls for “promoting the provision of high-quality developmental support.”*
There is a need to “enhance support for children with high support needs”*, and increasing the number of establishments that provide high-quality support is a social issue.
