What is ISO 14068-1:2023?
This is an international standard based on PAS 2060 that became an ISO standard on November 30, 2023. It was formulated with the aim of increasing the accuracy and transparency of carbon neutrality declarations and eliminating “ambiguous carbon neutrality.” By obtaining ISO 14068-1:2023, companies can lend credibility to their claims. The predecessor, PAS 2060, has been certified by approximately 100 companies, mainly major companies, and in Japan, Suntory Holdings Ltd. has achieved certification for each factory.
To demonstrate carbon neutrality, it is first necessary to calculate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by the object
(product/service/event/business activity) you want to prove carbon neutral using an approved method. After that, you can demonstrate and declare carbon neutrality for the first time by setting and
implementing reduction targets and offsetting the remaining emissions that have not been reduced by purchasing credits.
