Canadian indie rock band The Strumbellas, known for hits such as the moving anthem “Spirits,” have released their long-awaited new album “Part Time Believer” (via Underneath a Mountain Records/The Orchard). Following the releases of “Running Out Of Time,” “My Home Is You,” and “Hold Me,” which were released ahead of the album, the hopeful new single “Holster” was released earlier this year, raising expectations for the album. I was recruiting.
With their new album, Part Time Believer, they push the boundaries of their sound even further. Combining emotion, depth, and overwhelming energy, it explores new and convincing ground. This solidifies the reputation of The Strambellas, who have revolutionized music. Here’s what the band says about their new album, Part Time Believer, which is a labor of love.
“This album, Part Time Believer, is about half the truths we believe and all the truths we only believe half of the time. What we can do and why we have to keep moving forward. Why should I be grateful? We try to tell ourselves many things, but it’s hard to truly believe them. It’s a song about how it feels to keep fighting even though half of your head is telling you to quit.”
Regarding the production process, please comment below.
“We wrote these songs with friends old and new. As with all of our albums, we didn’t have a concept or big idea for the album beforehand. We wrote each song as best we could. We focused on making the songs persuasive. We tried to remove all the obstacles that prevent us from making good songs. We hope that these songs touch the hearts of many people who listen to them, not just us. We’re also very grateful that you want to hear our new music and see us live. We know we’re the luckiest band in the world, but it doesn’t always seem that way. Not because I’m a “Part Time Believer.”
Hold Me
[Video 2: https://prtimes.jp/api/movieim.php?url=www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbLdWi1oZhE] Since forming in 2008, The Strumbellas have steadily progressed. Their debut album “My Father And The Hunter” released in 2012 was nominated for the “Roots & Traditional Album of the Year Group” category at the Juno Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards. . Their second album, “We Still Move On Dance Floor,” released the following year in 2013, won the Juno Award in the same category in 2014. From their third album “Hope” in 2016, the singles “Spirits” and “You Don’t Know” were big hits. The former won “Single of the Year” at the 2017 Juno Awards. From their 4th album “Rattlesnake” in 2019, songs such as “Salvation” were hits. After about 5 years, they made a big comeback with their 5th album “Part Time Believer” and started a new chapter.
When live performances were suspended, The Strambellas put their last effort into completing this album, working behind the scenes on songwriting and lyrics. Nearly 50 songs were selected from that session, and the final selection was narrowed down to 12. Simon Ward, who had been in charge of lead vocals until now, took a back seat to songwriting and other tasks, and former Ascot Royals and Kadeema frontman Jimmy Chauveau was brought in as the new vocalist.
The entire album was produced by producer Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Kaiser Chiefs, Walk The Moon), with several songs featuring Keith Varon (Machine Gun Kelly, Lindsey Stirling) and Stevie Aiello (Thirty Seconds To Mars). , produced by Dave Shiffman (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Adele). The album “Part Time Believer” is full of heartbreaking lyrics wrapped in epic folk-like melodies, depicting the various emotional changes that the group has cultivated over the years.
