On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the radio program “Otsuka Shokai Presents Kazuo Yoshida’s” will be broadcast on community FM nationwide. A live event was held to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the broadcast of “BOSSAMANIA” (produced by Music Bird).
(This episode will be broadcast on the program on March 2nd, March 9th, and March 16th.)
* The first live event of the Brazilian music program “BOSSAMANIA” * Kazuo Yoshida, the program’s personality and a leading figure in popularizing Brazilian music in Japan, gathered together his close friends with Brazilian music and planned a live event to celebrate the program’s 5th anniversary. The program started in 2019, and was planned since the first anniversary of its broadcast, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2024, the fifth year, the long-awaited event will be held.

On the day of the event, the trio “Pandrum” led by Yoshida took the lead, enveloping the venue with the light and warm sounds of steelpan. Also performing will be Nina, a female bossa nova singer known as the 9th female vocalist of Los Indios, as well as Gustavo Anacleto (Sax) and Yukihiro Yamane (B), who are highly sought after in the Brazilian music world. In addition to original songs, we also delivered plenty of bossa nova masterpieces such as “The Girl from Ipanema.”
And this time’s special guest is Yoshitaka Minami, a
singer-songwriter who loves bossa nova! He talked about his memories of his trip to Brazil with Yoshida, performed “Mash Que Nada” with Nina, the famous song “Monroe Walk” arranged in a Brazilian style, and also performed “Make it a slow boogie” for the encore. I was able to listen to city pop for adults.
* TOKYO FM Hall becomes “Brazil” with the appearance of the samba team! * In the second half, Damion Gómez de Sousa, a major figure in popularizing Brazilian music in Japan, appeared. Sakae Daidouji, a cavaquinho stringed instrument, and Otsuka Shokai Co., Ltd., who plays the cuica, a percussion instrument.
Yuji Otsuka, President and Representative Director, was also on stage. To the rhythm of the samba that makes you want to dance, top dancer Solange appears from the back of the audience wearing a gorgeous costume! Along with the powerful performance of the popular samba team “Imperio do Samba” in Asakusa, the voltage in the audience was at its peak. It was a moment when the audience and artists began to dance as one, and the entire hall became “Brazil” itself.
Also, in the foyer on that day, the Brazilian restaurant “Sassi Perele” (Yotsuya) and the liquor shop “JOLLYS” (Ebisu) will be open. The delicious smiles of the guests who enjoyed food and drinks along with the music were in full bloom.
