Marui Group Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroshi Aoi) has announced that Lancers Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Aki) operates an ordering platform for freelancers. We have concluded a capital and business alliance agreement with Yosuke Kou (hereinafter referred to as Lancers).

■ Background of the initiative
In 2019, our group set out a vision of “overcoming the dichotomy between impact and profit” based on our mission of “Together we create an inclusive society where everyone can feel happy.” To achieve this, we have set impact goals and are moving forward with initiatives through a trinity business model consisting of retail, fintech, and future investment.
Lancers is a venture company that develops platform businesses for freelancers with the mission of “individual empowerment.”
By providing new ways of working that are not limited by time or place through our business, we will transform the lives of individuals and their way of life, and create a more prosperous society where as many individuals as possible can demonstrate their unique talents and feel job satisfaction. That’s what I’m aiming for.
Our group sympathizes with this idea, and by combining the strengths of Lancers, such as know-how and technology, with the strengths of our group, which develops business in an integrated manner, we provide “financial services of high value for freelancers.” We thought it would be possible to do this, and so we entered into this capital and business alliance.
Going forward, we will continue to engage in dialogue with Lancers and take on various challenges that will lead to mutual business growth, as well as create new trust that supports the freelance work style, which has not been provided with sufficient financial services. We will continue to provide services.
■ Future initiatives
We are currently in discussions to develop and provide new financial services, including the joint development of a business credit card for freelancers. We will inform you of the specific details of our initiatives in due course.
