Soma Saito (hereinafter referred to as Saito) who plays Benjamin (Benny): When I first saw the cover, I thought what a wonderful worldview it had. Even after actually reading the main story, that impression did not change, but in fact became stronger, and I went into recording with the intention of somehow conveying this tranquil atmosphere in audio. I felt it when we worked together on another work before, but I felt like there was something about Azagami-kun and the rhythm of our breathing and acting that matched each other. I would be happy if that was reflected well in the audio as well.
Mr. Yohei Azagami (hereinafter referred to as Azagami) who plays Turner Wilson: It was a story told with such a beautiful worldview that it would crumble if touched carelessly.
Although there are fantasy elements, it is a perfect balance that never interferes with the relationship between the two and gently colors the story. I felt as satisfied as if I had watched a wonderful movie.
━━ Please tell us your impressions of the character you played and what you were conscious of when playing the role.
Saito: Coupled with his origins, I felt that Benny is a character that becomes cold all at once when you try to explain the setting or situation, so it was difficult to put that into perspective. Still, I wanted to be able to carefully capture the changes in Benny, from his complete ignorance of the human world at the beginning to his gradually becoming more expressive through his interactions with Turner.
Azagami: The original work was full of crystal-like beauty and fragility, so I felt that the actor’s ego could easily destroy the story.
Together with Soma Saito and all of his co-stars, he acted with a sense of carefully and carefully accumulating each word. I think this is a work that could only have been created through collaboration. ━━ Are there any scenes or lines that left an impression on you while acting? Saito: I felt like the climax scene was the culmination of the two’s emotions that had been building up one by one up until that point, and I was moved by it even when I was acting it out.
Also, since the original artwork is so beautiful, we needed to express that part in the audio, which was a difficult part.
Both characters were relatively calm, but I like the scenes where you can see their emotional fluctuations, such as Benny blushing when he’s praised, or Turner looking confused when his hand is held.
Azagami: Turner finally conveys his feelings to Benny and confirms them with each other. Still, Benny departs, and he gently pushes him on the back.
I personally love this scene, which is simply refreshingly drawn. Because of this scene, Turner’s words, “If you come back, I’ll be waiting for you,” resonate even more deeply in my heart, and the reunion scene becomes even more precious.

Saito: It was difficult to record this quiet yet heart-wrenching conversation piece, but we were able to record it in the same space as Azagami-kun and the cast and staff.

Azagami: I am truly grateful that I was able to be involved in the work “Barefoot Angel” as Turner. I think both the original work and the drama CD have their own merits, but I went into recording with the enthusiasm of wanting to make the story of these two people shine even more beautifully. I want you to touch this world as many times as you like. thank you!
