BASF Japan launches two new fungicide products for fruit trees that contribute to sustainability

・ “Belanti(R) Flowable” is the first fungicide containing the active ingredient Revizol(R), BASF’s sustainable solution.
・ “Roncella (R) Flowable” is a single agent containing the active ingredient Zemium (R), allowing for more flexible pest control designs.

BASF Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroki Ishida, hereinafter referred to as “BASF Japan”) began selling “Belanti(R) Flowable” on February 14th. Additionally, we will begin selling Roncella(R) Flowable from mid-March, expanding our fungicide product lineup for fruit growers. Both contain active ingredients independently developed by BASF and contribute to improving crop quality and stabilizing yields.

The innovative new DMI active ingredient Revizol (R) (compound name: mefentrifluconazole) is the world’s first isopropanol azole
bactericidal active ingredient developed by BASF. By flexibly changing its unique three-dimensional structure, Revizol (R) has “flexipower” that allows it to bind to target enzymes about 100 times more strongly than other azole fungicides. With this “Flexipower”, Bellanty(R) Flowable is effective even against existing DMI-low-susceptibility bacteria, and has a stable effect on controlling major diseases of fruit trees. It also has the following features:
・After spraying, the active ingredients are quickly incorporated into the leaves, resulting in excellent rain resistance.
・The active ingredients processed at the base of the leaf move upwards within the leaf and exert stable effects.
・In addition to preventive effects, it has excellent therapeutic effects. ・Reduced environmental impact due to low drug dose and high dilution ratio Bellanti(R) Flowable can be used to control a wide range of major diseases on fruit trees, such as scab and scab of apples and pears, and scab of grapes.

Roncella (R) Flowable is a combination of the active ingredient Zemium (R) (compound name: fluxapiroxad), which is contained in the already marketed “Axor (R) Flowable” and “Cercadis (R) D Flowable”. This is the first single-agent fungicide for fruit trees. Roncella(R) Flowable is highly effective in controlling a wide range of diseases, increasing the options available to fruit growers for disease control and enabling more flexible control designs for rotational control, which is essential for managing resistant bacteria. .
Roncella(R) Flowable has the following features.
・Has both lipophilic and hydrophilic properties, so it has excellent migration between the leaf surface and within the leaf.
・It is quickly adsorbed to the wax layer on leaves and has a long-term residual effect.
・It is active at lower concentrations than existing SDHI agents, reducing the burden on the environment.
Roncella(R) Flowable can be used to control a wide range of major diseases on fruit trees, including scab and scab on apples and pears, and gray mold and scab on citrus.
