On the day of the event, CTOs and development managers from companies that are actually involved in product development using Ruby on Rails will gather for engineers who have learned Ruby on Rails or those who are considering learning Ruby on Rails. We held a panel discussion and explained in detail the reasons for choosing Ruby on Rails, current issues, and the type of engineer each company is looking for.

Representative Director and CTO) The event began with greetings from Mr. Yuji Otani, Representative Director and CTO of Horizon Technology Co., Ltd., who is a leader in HR tech service development and has served as CTO of three companies, followed by presentations from each company on topics such as “logistics,” “childcare,” and “health,” and solving social issues. He explained the company’s mission to achieve this goal, and explained in detail the reasons for choosing Ruby on Rails, the merits of each company’s products created using it, the challenges each company faces, and the type of engineer each company is looking for, using case examples.
While looking back on the difficulties faced during the startup process, which is typical of startup companies, each company said that “emphasizing speed” was the top priority above all else, and that the image of the engineer that each company was looking for was “a person who is not limited to engineering work, but is enthusiastic about work. The common denominator throughout the company was that they were engineers who could participate.

Mr. Daiya Kudo, CTO/Development Department Manager, iCARE Co., Ltd. After graduating from Japan Electronics College, he began his career as a web engineer at a venture company focused on commissioned development. He is good at developing new web services from 0 to 1, and has experience as a lead engineer and CTO of a startup in the seed stage. Due to his experience of taking time off from work due to overwork, he has a strong interest in promoting the health of himself and his organization, and joined iCARE as a business contractor in November 2020. He will become a full-time employee in January 2022 and become CTO in August 2023. Aiming to be an organization where developers can play an active role in a healthy manner, we are focusing on improving development productivity and developer experience.
Mr. Hiroaki Akanuma, Director and CTO, UNIFA Co., Ltd.
After working in development at M3 and Nubee Tokyo, he joined Unifa Tokyo office in 2015 when it was launched. He built Unifa’s
development system and was involved in the launch of various new services. Currently, as Director and CTO, he oversees the entire Product Development Division, which is responsible for system development. The company also actively recruits foreign engineers and is responsible for managing multinational engineers. He has also appeared at many technology conferences.
X Mile Co., Ltd. Development Manager Jun Ebina
Majored in computer science at Future University Hakodate. After graduating, he joined a real estate tech venture as a first-year engineer, and as a core member, engaged in web service development without boundaries between front-end, back-end, and infrastructure. In 2022, he joined X Mile as the first engineer and led everything from development infrastructure to organization construction.
