Tottori prefecture has the smallest population. Yonago City, located in the western part of the prefecture, has a population of
approximately 140,000. Kakubancho shopping street is located in the JU Yonago Takashimaya area, which is considered the symbol of the area. In fact, it is a city with a population of over 100,000 that has two department stores in existence, which is quite rare even in Japan. (Others are Tokyo and Tachikawa City only)
Now, we have started a project to renovate that good old shopping arcade with a modern shine. LED lights illuminate safe roads at night, and solar panels provide disaster prevention, ensuring peace of mind in the area. This renewal is not just a renovation. This is a symbol of a “new Yonago city” that is resilient to disasters and full of the joy of walking. Crowdfunding to turn our vision into reality. This project will beautifully renovate the aging arcade, install LED lighting, and install solar panels to implement BCP measures and create an environment that is safe to walk around at night. With the slogan “Yonago, a fun city to walk in,” the public and private sectors are working together to create a vibrant shopping district in Kakubancho and to help locals and people from outside the prefecture learn about the great things about Yonago City.
In renovating the arcade, we will introduce beautiful LED lighting and displays, with the aim of creating a shopping street lined with bright, safe, and attractive stores in the future. The main
modifications are as follows.
(1) Paint changes to improve image
(2) SDGs initiatives and cost reduction
