Singer-songwriter Mel’s new song “Koyoinouta” has been selected as the opening theme song for the TV drama “If You Fall in Love, The Second Time Is Best”, which will begin airing on March 5th in the MBS/TBS Dramaism slot. The original work is the popular manga “If you’re in love, the second time is better” by Keiko Kinoshita, which was serialized in “Chara Selection” (Tokuma Shoten) from 2018 to 2022.
Following on from last year’s release of “Night Magic”, this work is a number in which he teamed up with Shun Maruno once again, and expresses the heartbreak of parting ways with someone you have feelings for and the change of time.
It is also his first drama tie-up song, and serves as the theme song for the live-action drama “If You Fall in Love, The Second Time Is Better”, which is based on Keiko Kinoshita’s original work, and further enhances the worldview of the work.
Mel, who will be in charge of the theme song for a drama for the first time, said, “Since it’s my first tie-up work, I was very happy to be able to sing the theme song this time. When I hear about a work in which a person reunites with their first love and a second love begins, it seems that love, which tends to become more cautious as an adult, has an ambiguous atmosphere and an unstable sense of distance. “I think the song perfectly captures that.I’m also very excited to see how they’ll match up.”, he said, expressing his thoughts. On March 13th, Mel’s first full-length album “Nonfiction”, which includes this song “Koyoi no Uta”, was released.
It contains a total of 8 songs, including the winter trilogy of “Night Magic,” “Dancing With You,” and “God’s Destiny,” which have been distributed for three consecutive months, and will be a work that shows the current status of singer-songwriter Mel.
As collaborations, popular arrangers such as JU!iE, Likea, Shun Maruno, The Burining Deadwoods, and TMT are participating in the arrangement, and Mel’s sound as well as her character are captivating in various shades.
Mel, who has flown through thousands of nights, will deliver her gentle melody and warm voice tonight as well.
