*The Sports Career Support Consortium was established in February 2017 as part of a project commissioned by the Japan Sports Agency, with the aim of establishing a system to support athletes’ career development. Based on the philosophy of collaboration and common benefit, this consortium brings together organizations, corporations, and
individuals from the sports, education, and business worlds to train coordinators who will actually support the career development of athletes.
[Comment on the day: SCSC Chairman Yoshio Takahashi]
The Paris Olympics and Paralympics will be held this year, and it is expected that many athletes who were not selected for the national team will retire after the games are over.
Athletes who have thought carefully about themselves after retirement from their active days will be able to move on to life after retirement more smoothly, so we will focus our activities on cultivating and changing the awareness of athletes.
As athletes consider their entire careers from active duty as dual-career athletes, the idea that it is important for athletes to consider their entire lives is also becoming more widespread, and that this will lead to stronger athletes.
[Video message comment on the day: Koji Murofushi, Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency]
Currently, we support career development support initiatives with over 100 related organizations.
The circle of career support for athletes is steadily expanding, with an increase in the membership of central sports organizations and expanded opportunities for career training. We will enhance our initiatives so that athletes can independently think about their careers, demonstrate the skills they have cultivated through competition, and return their value to society.
