On March 1, Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo,
Representative Executive Officer and President: Atsushi Nakajima) began new construction work for the “(tentative name) Business Plan for Utilizing Idle Land on the East Side of the North Exit of Karuizawa Station.”
This project utilizes the site of the former Shinetsu Main Line, which was owned by Shinano Railway Co., Ltd. and discontinued due to the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen in 1997. Mitsubishi Estate will lease this site and provide free access to Karuizawa Station. Aqua Ignis Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Tetsuya Tachibana) and Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director, President and COO: Yoshinori Takahashi) developed a commercial facility with direct access to the walkway. We operate facilities, accommodation facilities, food and beverage stores, etc. The opening is scheduled for spring 2026.
This plan is based on the concept of “transmitting and experiencing the uniqueness of Shinshu, and creating a gateway that tickles curiosity”, taking into account the location’s characteristics of being in front of Karuizawa Station.We will continue to consider detailed plans. In addition, through this project, we will promote collaboration with the local community and contribute to the communication and revitalization of Karuizawa and the entire Shinshu area.
