Japanese advertisers prioritize Instagram over Facebook
Advertisers in Japan invested nearly $1 billion in total on Facebook and Instagram in the fourth quarter of 2023. The investment in Instagram was $613 million, which was 66% more than the investment in Facebook. The difference in investment amounts between these two social platforms remained consistent throughout the three months of Q4 2023.
Rakuten Group and Amazon lead the social media spending on Facebook and Instagram in Japan
Among all advertisers in Japan, the company that spent the most in the fourth quarter of 2023 was Rakuten Group ($31 million), and Amazon, which ranked second in total, spent the most on Facebook ($11 million). It was the top in Japan.
