Chiyoda Co., Ltd. (Suginami-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO Masatoshi Machino) participated in the “Model Project on Carbon Footprint of Products and Services” conducted by the Ministry of the Environment in 2025, and launched the private brand “Hydrotech Ultralight”. We have calculated the carbon footprint (CFP) of 3 product numbers
(HD1504/1505/1506).
Carbon footprint is the acronym for Carbon Footprint of Products, and is the greenhouse gas emitted at each stage of a product, from procurement of raw materials to production, distribution/sales, use, disposal/recycling. This is the amount converted to CO2. As a leading company in the footwear industry, we provide information related to climate change to stakeholders and customers by visualizing greenhouse gas emissions for each product and working to continuously reduce them.
This time, greenhouse gas emissions are released at each stage of the 5-step process (“raw material procurement”, “production”, “distribution/sales”, “use”, and “disposal/recycling”) regarding the calculation of CO2 emissions for the three Hydrotech Ultralight product numbers. The amount of effective gas was converted into CO2. As a result of the calculation, we found that the raw material procurement stage had the largest amount of emissions, followed by the production stage. In the future, we will continue our efforts to reduce emissions, such as by switching to raw materials that produce large amounts of emissions and using renewable energy at our factories.
