Rakuten Group, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “Rakuten”) has launched “Service Inclusion,” an initiative to provide inclusive services that respect and consider the needs and perspectives of diverse people in all situations. As a first step, the Rakuten Beauty Salon Project, which promotes LGBTQ+ friendly (Note 1) initiatives, will be launched on Rakuten Beauty, a beauty salon reservation site operated by Rakuten. “LGBTQ+ Friendly Salon Cheat Sheet” is a video content that teaches basic knowledge about diverse sexualities, customer service methods, and how to create a salon.It was produced for beauty salon owners and employees under the supervision of external experts. Rakuten’s goal of “Service Inclusion” is to respect diverse people, including LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, people with children, and people of foreign nationality, and to encourage them to use our services with peace of mind. Rakuten’s services will incorporate the idea of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (Note 3) that will help you live a life to the fullest. Up until now, Rakuten has not allowed people to receive insurance benefits from same-sex partners (Note 4) through Rakuten Life, apply for family cards for same-sex partners who share the same livelihood through Rakuten Card, and do not have to present a partnership certificate. Rakuten Bank offers housing loans for LGBTQ+ people, and Rakuten Points is a combination of Rakuten Edy, which has a rainbow pattern that symbolizes support for sexual minorities, and the Rakuten Point Card. We have been implementing various initiatives that take into account the diversity of users, such as releasing “Card”.
Based on our “Service Inclusion” initiatives, we will continue to incorporate the concept of “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” into the various services we provide, and provide services that people from diverse backgrounds can use with peace of mind. We will aim for this. (Note 1) LGBTQ+ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or queer. Here, the term is used to mean respecting a wide variety of sexualities, not just LGBTQ+ people, and LGBTQ+ friendly refers to a cooperative attitude and response without discriminating against LGBTQ+ people.
