(location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Hideki Nemoto (hereinafter referred to as “Urban Development”) has concluded an “Agreement on Industry-Academia Collaboration Program” (hereinafter referred to as the “Agreement”). Together with Tokyo Women’s University and Urban Development, this is the first continuous industry-academia collaboration initiative between a university and a private company.
Summary of this agreement
This agreement was realized because both Tokyo Women’s University and Urban Development have ties to the JR Chuo Line, and there was a mutual desire to create new experiences and contribute to local urban development through mutual efforts.
The objectives of Tokyo Women’s University are to help students gain practical and wide-ranging insight and adaptability to the real world, and for urban development, while developing and operating facilities under elevated railway tracks. We aim to solve regional issues and realize community-based facilities by proposing ideas from new perspectives.
Initiative details
・This program will be conducted through a seminar given by a supervisor from Tokyo Women’s University, using urban development facilities mainly under the JR Chuo Line elevated tracks.
Supervisor: Faculty of Liberal Arts, Department of International Sociology, Department of Community Planning, Specially Appointed Professor Masato Momiyama
Target facility: Nishi-Ogikubo Kitamachi underpass development (tentative name, under development) (3-41-1 Shoan, Suginami-ku, Tokyo) ・Students at Tokyo Women’s University consider and set a theme for their work based on issues presented by urban development and local issues, and aim to propose and implement town development ideas through the guidance of their supervisors.
