Tsuyoshi Tsuruno becomes a hero for the first time in 26 years!? Using light beams to destroy the barriers that stand in the way of employment of people with disabilities Supporting companies from various industries will take to the stage to overcome the barriers to employment of people with disabilities
Handicap Action 2425 Inaugural Press Conference Post-mortem Report ……
HANDICAP CLOUD Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Kyohei Moriki, hereinafter referred to as HANDICAP CLOUD) is a project that aims to help Japanese companies as a whole overcome the many barriers to hiring people with disabilities. 2425”, a press conference was held from 13:00 on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with Tsuyoshi Tsuruno as a guest.
[Image 1: https://prtimes.jp/i/45231/38/resize/d45231-38-1ccc6fe63ef22a94f26e-0.jpg&s3=45231-38-6da969bf6a05a712c508632f69bae9b5-1208×806.jpg] Currently, the actual employment rate for companies with disabilities is 2.33%, and the percentage of companies that have achieved legal employment status is 50.1%, with approximately half of companies failing to achieve this goal.
*From the “Results of the 2020 Employment Situation of Persons with Disabilities” announced by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. From April 2024, the legal employment rate will be raised to 2.5%, and companies will be forced to take further measures. However, many companies are facing various issues with hiring people with
disabilities and are not able to take sufficient measures. It’s the situation. In addition, problems such as early retirement and wage disparity with healthy workers due to mismatches among employers are also being viewed as problems. We define these challenges faced by both companies and job seekers as five major “walls” that must be overcome, and instead of one company having to deal with the barriers faced by various companies in hiring people with disabilities, we have decided to raise the legal employment rate. As an opportunity, we will launch a new project “#HandicapAction2425” to ask all Japanese companies to think about it as their own and help each other. ■Comment from Kyohei Moriki, President and CEO of HANDICAP CLOUD, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo

I will try my best.
In addition, we will start a special program aimed at generative AI business support, the first of its kind for people with disabilities in Japan, at our company’s Elaviva Employment Transition. In general society, it is expected that the number of tasks that utilize generative AI will increase in the future, and we anticipate that support tasks using generative AI will be required in the employment of people with disabilities.
This is a special program that allows even people with disabilities to support their work using generated AI.
HANDICAP CLOUD will continue to collaborate with other companies to move forward with this project, aiming to create a world where everyone can live their own lives, where individuals can be
themselves, empathize with others, and promote diversity. We will create a society where everyone is recognized and respected. Regarding the increase in the legal employment rate, he said, “I think there are many human resources personnel in Japan who are concerned about the increase in the legal employment rate, but there are other companies other than us at Hello Work that support employment of people with disabilities. “There are many different companies and many different solutions, so please feel free to consult with us. We would be happy if one of those companies was us.” He also said, “What is really important is the workplace.I think it’s all about giving consideration when hiring people with
disabilities. The perspective of diversity is important, and by continuing to take this action without forgetting, we will be able to meet the legal employment rate. I would be happy if we could work with companies to solve essential issues.”
■Comment from Tomoko Tsuchiya, Section Manager, Human Resources Recruitment Division, Human Resources Development Department, Otsuka Shokai Co., Ltd.

“As I am a person involved, each company has a legal employment rate such as 2.3, 2.5, 2.7, etc., but work has to be interesting.I personally find work rewarding, so I think work is interesting. We will continue to hire people who want to work in a rewarding way, and we will also focus on creating new jobs.”
■Comment from Tomokazu Omura, General Manager of Human Resources Department, Port Co., Ltd.
[Image 4: https://prtimes.jp/i/45231/38/resize/d45231-38-b752ea05218e99af86a3-3.jpg&s3=45231-38-6b827f8639fd2aab48b76615ba468d9a-595×396.jpg] Commented on “DE&I” as an action against the increase in the legal employment rate for employment of people with disabilities.
“Let’s aim for a world where diversity is mutually accepted. When it comes to hiring people with disabilities, we only pay attention to numbers such as the legal employment rate, but I don’t think we can get caught up only in numbers. The lives of those who choose Port are in our hands, so I think it’s important to create a company where those people can feel fulfilled and fully demonstrate their abilities.
In this sense, employment of people with disabilities is an initiative of DE&I, and we would like to continue promoting it. ”
■Comment from Makoto Nakano, Deputy General Manager of Human Resources Department, SBI Securities Co., Ltd.

“I don’t think we have to rely on figures such as legal employment rates. While listening to the voices of our current employees, we will create an environment that is easy for future employees with disabilities to work in. Rather than being satisfied with what we have now, I believe that going one step further will create a more comfortable working environment for everyone. ”
■Takeshi Tsuruno takes the stage
[Image 6: https://prtimes.jp/i/45231/38/resize/d45231-38-afa64ce4aad0072ca034-5.jpg&s3=45231-38-5c7a60fec3ec8c65b00718e3e26cbd85-486×645.jpg] Tsuruno, who appeared in an orange special attack squad-like costume, commented, “It looks like the uniforms worn by my seniors.I think it surprisingly suits me!” Regarding the theme of the company’s purpose, “A world where everyone can live their own way,” Ms. Tsuruno herself studied childcare during the coronavirus pandemic, and also learned about welfare at the time, and is currently working part-time at a kindergarten. He commented that because he has the opportunity to interact with children with disabilities in the field, he has many opportunities to think about it on a daily basis.

In the middle of the press conference, he was able to successfully remove the “Five Barriers to Employment of People with Disabilities” that suddenly appeared on the screen at the venue by firing a beam of light. Tsuru, who had broken down the wall, said with a smile, “The light is still coming out! It’s been 26 years since then, but I think it hasn’t weakened.”
[Image 7: https://prtimes.jp/i/45231/38/resize/d45231-38-4671ae267d2da0f5c413-5.jpg&s3=45231-38-159464a28e25897ff2f89bad9b0e7dff-1123×748.jpg] Regarding how to interact with people with disabilities, he said, “Disabilities come in a variety of forms, including physical, intellectual, and mental disabilities, and we need to experience how to care for them and the extent to which we can support them.” “I feel like I need to do things the other day,” he said, “just as I felt the value of handrails for the first time when I fell on my back the other day and used them.” He said it was important to let them work inside.
[Image 8: https://prtimes.jp/i/45231/38/resize/d45231-38-4174856c316bcbb29d31-7.jpg&s3=45231-38-550cdf1ba72aedb5160cad3925e1bec8-993×662.jpg] Also, when asked about the “wall” she has broken down so far, she answered that she took childcare leave. He commented that the word “Ikumen” was coined and that the environment has become easier for fathers to raise children. He also said that in order to move toward a world of true inclusion, the goal is to eliminate these sensational words.
Afterwards, they took three quizzes on the employment of people with disabilities and deepened their understanding of the employment of people with disabilities. The students then said, “I am lacking in education and there are still some areas that I am lacking in, but I hope to live in a world that is truly inclusive.” I would be happy if I could support you in whatever small way I can to help you achieve that goal,” he concluded the press conference.
