IBM Japan Adds generative AI extensions to digital service platform to promote generative AI implementation and business transformation in financial institutions

IBM Japan
Adding generative AI extensions to digital service platform to accelerate financial institutions’ adoption of generative AI and business transformation
……
IBM Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as IBM Japan) has developed the “Open Sourcing Strategy Framework
(https://jp.newsroom.ibm.com/2020-06-16-digital-change-promotion-finance- service-for-open-sourcing-strategy-framework-announcement) (*1)” core solution “IBM Digital Services Platform for Financial Services (DSP)” (*2) We announced that we have developed a “DSP generation AI extension function” that allows you to introduce AI in a short period of time. By utilizing this “DSP generation AI extension function,” financial institutions can quickly enjoy business effects such as operational sophistication, automation, and labor savings through the introduction of generation AI, as well as anticipated improvements in security, communication record management, etc. You can also add features to help you address risks. Service provision is scheduled to start at the end of May 2024.
Generative AI is also highly anticipated in the financial industry as a driving force for improving productivity and business growth. However, the difficulty of verifying effectiveness, the security of data and systems, and the difficulty of monitoring the usage status of multiple generative AIs have been obstacles to promoting company-wide generative AI implementation.
Therefore, IBM Japan has developed a solution for utilizing generative AI in a safe and controlled environment as the “DSP generative AI extension.” This solution consists of three elements:

(1) Generative AI Applications: A group of applications that use generative AI to improve the sophistication and efficiency of various operations at financial institutions.
With this feature, you can use multiple applications that streamline each financial institution’s normal operations. Since these
applications have already been developed and their effectiveness has been verified, it is possible to reduce costs and visualize their effectiveness at the same time. The initial lineup includes support for “creation of loan approval documents,” “creation of sales talk scripts,” and “creation of daily business reports,” as well as “AI chat” and “document Q&A,” which can be used across the industry. We will continue to expand the business lineup included in the “DSP generation AI extension function” in the future.
(2) Generative AI Gateway: A gateway that provides integrated management such as monitoring and control while using multiple AI models depending on the purpose.
In order to centralize the monitoring and control of the utilization status of generation AI, we have developed major generation systems such as watsonx.ai (Granite Japanese version, etc.), Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service (GPT-4, etc.), and Amazon Bedrock (Claude 3, etc.). We provide a gateway and management dashboard that aggregates connections to AI. In the future, we plan to support quality control of generated AI and new attack methods targeting generated AI, such as
collaboration with watsonx.governance and other companies’ products. (3) Generative AI Foundations: Infrastructure functions that quickly build a cloud environment with the security level required by financial institutions
In order to use generated AI in a secure environment, we provide the ability to build a complete infrastructure environment, including end-to-end private network connections, in as little as one day. We also offer an optional DevSecOps pipeline that supports agile development of customer-developed generative AI applications. The newly developed “DSP generation AI extension” will be able to operate on Azure, AWS, which companies currently use, and, in the future, IBM Cloud, allowing it to flexibly respond to each company’s environment. In addition, it will be provided as a managed service for financial institutions that already use DSP, and through seamless integration with financial APIs, we will realize improved cost performance. In addition, financial institutions that do not use DSP can also use what they need from the three elements of the “DSP generation AI extension function.”
IBM Consulting’s Financial Services Division has developed the “DSP Generation AI Extension” based on IBM’s deep knowledge of business application of AI technology cultivated over many years and experience in system development for financial institutions. Delivering 360-degree value from application business impact, management and monitoring, to robust infrastructure.
By incorporating IBM watsonx.ai and watsonx.governance into this “DSP generation AI extension,” IBM Japan will support customers to use generation AI responsibly and help customers create new value by leveraging AI. We will continue to promote co-creation to create. *1 Announcing the “Open Sourcing Strategy Framework” for financial services that promotes digital transformation (June 16, 2020)
