It has already been three years since Mr. So-and-so from Ashiya, Kyushu, moved to Tokyo because of a lawsuit. The wife, who has been spending her days lonely, beats Kinuta to comfort him, but suspecting that her husband may have changed his mind, she goes mad and dies. (front scene)
While mourning for his wife’s bodhi, her ghost appears and talks about how she was suffering in hell due to her delusions during her life, and she resents her husband’s unfaithfulness, but through the merits of the Lotus Sutra, she attains Buddhahood and overcomes the darkness of Nakaari. It disappears. This time, the maihayashi “Kinuta” will be danced with the back part placed on a local song.

A monk from the capital comes to Yashima-no-ura in Shikoku on his pilgrimage to the western part of Japan.
Around sunset, an old man with a fishing rod on his shoulder and a young fisherman were passing by, and the monk asked for a place to stay for the night.The old man refused, saying his house was shabby, but when he learned that the monk was from the capital, he became very nostalgic and went inside. can enter. The old man tells the story of the Genpei War in Yashima at the request of a traveling monk. The story is so detailed that when the monk asks the old man’s real name, the old man hints that he is the incarnation of Yoshitsune and disappears.
Eventually, night falls, and the ghost of Yoshitsune in armor appears while the monk is dreaming. Yoshitsune’s soul, floating in the sea of life and death, once again recreates the battle of Shurado in detail. He talks about how he lost his bow in the sea and barely managed to pick it up, and how he told Kanefusa that he was not sparing his bow, but his name, but at dawn, his figure disappeared and the beach of Yashima was empty. The weather is clear and the waves are rolling.
*It is said to be one of the three Katsushura plays along with “Shi” and “Tamura,” and was one of the Noh plays favored by samurai during the Edo period, with the theme of winning a battle. There is also another name, “Yoshitsune”, in old books.
