About Tochinoshin
Tochinoshin (born October 13, 1987) is a former sumo wrestler from Georgia who belongs to Kasugano stable. His real name is Levan Gorgadze. With his powerful four-way sumo wrestling that takes advantage of his blessed physique, he became the first Georgian sumo wrestler to win the makuuchi championship at the inaugural tournament in 2018, and was promoted to ozeki after the summer tournament of the same year. He reigned for 17 years from his first dohyo at the spring venue in 2006 until the summer venue in 2023. A retirement sumo tournament was held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on February 4, 2024, and about 300 people, including fellow Georgian former Komusubi Kuromi, Yokozuna Terunofuji, and his father Zaza Golgadze, put in their scissors.
After retiring from the summer job last year, he became a businessman involved in importing wine from his home country of Georgia.
