On March 22, 2024, National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasutomo Nasu) and Okayama Prefecture will hold the second 2025 “Okayama Automotive Element Technology Co-Creation Consortium” (ACCEL). The general meeting and results presentation were held at our university’s Tsushima Campus, Graduate School of Natural Sciences Building. This is the final year of Okayama Prefecture’s “Regional Industry Promotion Project in Collaboration with Universities,” and the event was held solely on site, with 44 participants from ACCEL member companies, universities, and other higher education institutions.
The general meeting was chaired by Professor Kazuhito Ohashi of the Faculty of Environmental, Life and Natural Sciences of our university, who is the Chairman of ACCEL, and the results of the project implementation in FY2020 were reported.
At the results presentation session after the general meeting, the five working groups that were active in ACCEL in 2020 discussed new construction methods for FRP materials, improved formability CAE accuracy for high-strength steel sheets, new function development for rubber materials, and factory DX. Participants listened intently to presentations on achievements in a wide range of fields related to automobile parts and manufacturing, such as improved knowledge and technology, and research on the strength and reliability of metal materials.
In addition, Okayama Prefecture provided an explanation regarding the initiatives aimed at creating innovation that are scheduled to be implemented from 2020 onwards, and shared with the members that the direction is to further advance the results of past activities. ACCEL will continue to work on innovation promotion activities while continuing its activities as a working group.
