Kani Driving School Co., Ltd. Established the “General Incorporated Association, Issho wo Shisakukai,” an organization that supports children who do not attend school and their families.
*~ In this age of diversity, as a local company, we are thinking about creating support for children who do not go to school and their parents in the community ~*
*
Kani Driving School Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, President and CEO: Yusuke Sakazaki) has many years of experience in providing safety education to children in the local community. We would like to inform you that we will be establishing an organization to investigate, research, and provide support for parents of children who do not attend school.” In order to create a safe and secure town, we will work with the government and local organizations to solve social and local issues from a position that is more in the public interest. As a company rooted in the local community, we will continue to contribute to a prosperous and livable town. *
The number of children not attending school is increasing nationwide, and there is discussion about comprehensive support that includes their families.
* ◆Background of the establishment of the new organization*

Our company has been involved in local safety education mainly in Kani City for over 40 years. We provide educational guidance to children, mainly high school students, but we also interact with their parents when they enroll in a driving school, and in recent years, we have also been providing guidance to senior citizens, who are required to renew their driver’s licenses. We are giving a lecture. Additionally, due to our business relationships, we have long-term relationships with many government agencies such as police stations, fire
departments, city halls, and schools. From this position, I have had many opportunities to come into contact with issues and issues currently occurring in the region, and I have often been asked for advice.

In January 2020, Kani City established a “one-stop dialogue desk for public-private cooperation,” and our company has exchanged opinions on social and regional issues several times since last spring. At that time, I learned that in recent years, Kani City has been taking action with a sense of crisis regarding “creating a place for children who do not go to school” and “supporting parents of children who do not attend school.”
Therefore, we conducted a survey on support trends and content being considered by local governments across the country, and also visited organizations that support children, such as free schools, mainly in the Tokai region, and listened to various voices on the ground. I asked him directly. What I realized through this experience is that many local governments are struggling to determine the content and boundaries of administrative support, even though this is an urgent issue. The same is true in Kani City, and we understand that we are currently in a situation where we must resolve various issues, such as local volunteer organizations and parents’ associations already in operation, and the need to balance the city’s educational guidelines. It’s done.

During our conversations and surveys with Kani City, we have found that the “relationship between children and parents” and the “hidden family situation” that we have observed through our interactions with customers have revealed that children who do not go to school or who have children who do not go to school I felt that there was something connected to the topic of measures for families, and it made me realize that this is an important issue for our company as well. From this perspective, we have come to the conclusion that our company should also be aware of the city’s issue of “the need for a place for children and parents to fit in with this era of
diversity.”
It has become necessary to pay attention not only to the whereabouts of children, but also to the whereabouts of their parents.
* ◆About the name and origin of the new organization*

The above background has led to this move, but our company is also working on other regional issues. Examples include “traffic safety education for foreign nationals” and “creation of a city where multiple cultures can coexist.” Kani City, where our company is located, is home to one of the largest numbers of foreign nationals in Japan. For over 30 years, foreign nationals have been living in the town, attending school, and becoming involved in the local economy, and are now deeply integrated into the local community. For the past 20 years, our company has been providing safety guidance to foreign children and helping foreign parents obtain driver’s licenses. As a result, our company is now a member company of the Kani City International Exchange Association, and we also serve as a director of the association that promotes multicultural coexistence.

We are aware that “support for foreign nationals’ housing” is one of the important local issues, and just like the issue of supporting children who do not go to school, we are also aware that “support for foreign nationals’ housing” is one of the important regional issues. We deeply understand that the government must make difficult decisions regarding support. During this dialogue with Kani City, I was reminded once again why support for people living in the area is so
troublesome.

I don’t think it’s easy for a small local driving school to directly solve the issues and problems of people living in the area. However, as we know that the population will decline in the future, we must act now to maintain and sustain local communities. By supporting children who do not go to school, parents of children who do not go to school, and supporting foreign nationals, we have the potential to lead to our ideal of “creating a safe town.” It is against this background that we have decided to establish the “General Incorporated Association for Thinking about Places.” As a separate organization from Kani Driving School Co., Ltd., we are collaborating with people who are already engaged in activities such as supporting children who do not attend school and parents of children who do not attend school, supporting family investigations, and supporting planning of places to live including free schools. We will focus our activities on support. We want to make local communities safer by thinking about where people live. * ◆Creating a safe and secure town*

Originally, the role of a driving school was to provide appropriate guidance to those who have obtained a driver’s license, and to develop human resources suitable for the transportation society. Due to the influence of motorization, unfortunate accidents caused by automobiles have been occurring frequently throughout the country. In order to reduce the number of people who die in such accidents, we have built driving schools all over the country and spread the word “safety” throughout Japan. In other words, the reason for establishing the driving school is to “create and maintain a safe, accident-free town,” and we believe that this spirit will never change.
On the other hand, as time progressed, science and technology evolved, and people’s lives and the face of cities changed. Furthermore, as the birthrate declines, the aging society progresses, and the labor shortage progresses, people’s values have also changed
significantly. Looking at our customers and parents every year, I feel that the role of driving schools and what they are looking for are gradually changing.

The “traffic safety guidance” that we work on every day is, so to speak, “the work of removing unhappiness and fear lurking in the city.” However, for people today, cars are not the only source of misfortune and fear lurking in the streets. In modern times, various factors can cause unexpected misfortune or fear for people, and it is also possible that unexpected factors may cause harm to others. We must also turn our attention to the problems and issues that will emerge as we live in a prosperous era where diversity is recognized and various lifestyles are understood.
Kani City needs to be a place for every child and a place where they can feel safe. We also need to take steps to make the city a safe place for them to continue living in. This is something we must face as a responsibility for the future, and we believe that we should gradually remove as many elements of misfortune and fear as possible and make our town a safe and secure one. People gather in a safe and secure town. Our company not only provides safety guidance to the customers in front of us, but also takes on the challenge of safely creating the town itself where we live.
