Mirura melon bread
We aim to create a society where the number of people who cannot work even if they want to work is reduced, and where everyone can enjoy working.
We provide an opportunity for people who want to work but can’t to take the first step toward employment by giving them the opportunity to take the 0.5th step through experience.
……
Mirura Melonpan, a mobile melon bakery, supports April Dream, which aims to make April 1st the day to spread dreams.
This press release is a dream of “Mirura Melonpan”.
“Mobile Melon Bakery Mirura Melonpan (Melonpan Mobile Sales)” is conducting a “work experience project”.
We provide opportunities for people who want to work but cannot take the first step to experience working.
I want to encourage people to take “0.5 steps”
There are people in society who want to work but cannot. There are various reasons for this, including people who have no work experience and feel anxious about working, trauma from past employment, and some whose reasons are not clear. “I want to work, but I can’t.” In other words, I’m motivated but haven’t reached the stage where I want to work.I might be able to work if given an opportunity, but I feel like there aren’t many opportunities to do so. Although there are existing employment support systems, there are many people who do not fit into these systems and are unable to work even if they want to.
In Mira Melonpan’s work experience business, we first provide an opportunity for people who want to work but can’t work to take the first step towards employment, giving them an opportunity to take the 0.5th step through experience.
For my 21 year old self
The reason I started this business was my own “failure in finding a job.” I somehow joined the company after graduating from high school, but I couldn’t do my job and was scolded almost every day, making it painful to go to work every day. I ended up retiring after 4 years and 2 months. After that, through various part-time job experiences, I realized that “compatibility between work and yourself is
important.” And I realized, “If I had been able to try this job out in advance to see if it was right for me, I wouldn’t have had to go through such a difficult experience in the first place.” Now, I am able to find a job as a mobile melon bread seller that suits my personality and interests, and I am able to work with a sense of fulfillment.
In addition to my own experience, I also have the experience of supporting job-hunting students with no work experience, as well as people looking for re-employment despite painful experiences at the company they worked for. I decided to do a trial project.
In any case, find what you like first
The feature of this project is that “If you want to stop just before or during the experience, you can leave at that time,” and
conversely, “If you want to experience more even after the scheduled time, you can extend the experience.” “That’s what it says. The specific experience includes selling mobile melon bread, creating sales announcement flyers, and posting flyers.
Participants are asked to choose their favorite work from among these. For example, if you want to try out mobile sales but don’t want to go out in public, we can accommodate you on a case-by-case basis, such as allowing you to experience only behind-the-scenes work such as preparation and set-up.
This is to help students see what kind of work they are compatible with and to experience the joy of work, as long as it doesn’t put a burden on them.
“Confidence” and “fun” lead to employment
To date, we have accepted 23 people as trial participants. Most of the people we accept have no or no work experience, or have been away from work for many years. However, my honest impression is that the experience was more trouble-free than I expected. I realized that if you have a comfortable work environment, you can have fun and work well. Furthermore, six of the participants have since found a job or started job hunting.
Another example is when a person who got a job after the experience came to buy melon bread later on, and when I said to him, “So you’re buying it with the money you worked for,” he was a man with a wide smile on his face, even though he doesn’t usually have much to show for it. Impressive.
My dream for the future is to make more friends
Currently, this project is being carried out by Mirura Melonpan alone, but I hope that it will expand to all businesses in the future. Work experience also has benefits for businesses. In Japanese society, where it is not easy to get fired, by learning through experience things that cannot be learned through interviews alone, we can reduce the hiring of people like me who are a mismatch for the job. I think that’s a positive thing for him as well.
I believe that enabling people who were previously unable to work to work will have a positive impact not only on them, but also on those around them, and will also have a positive impact on society and the economy. We believe that by expanding work experience across Japan, society will become brighter.
