We pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, and we extend our deepest sympathies to those affected so that they can live a safe life as soon as possible.
◆Repeating earthquakes and damage
Japan, an earthquake-prone country, has experienced repeated earthquakes and damage for a long time.
We, the Japan Wooden House Earthquake Reinforcement Business Cooperative Association (abbreviation: Mokutaikyo, Chairman: Hideo Ono, Website: https://www.mokutaikyo.com/), were founded in response to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred in 1995. Established in 1998. We are working to change the situation where many people die due to the collapse of houses due to earthquakes. For the past 26 years, we have been providing technical training and lectures for businesses, as well as seminars and consultations for consumers. However, in the meantime, many earthquakes have caused damage, including the Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake, the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Kumamoto Earthquake, and this year’s Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
Furthermore, Japan continues to be in a situation where it would not be surprising if a huge earthquake could occur anytime and anywhere, not just earthquakes that are said to have a high probability of occurring, such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Earthquake or the Nankai Trough Mega Earthquake. However, the reality is that progress in making homes earthquake resistant, which is the most important element in disaster prevention, is not progressing smoothly.
◆Build an earthquake-resistant society
Advances in earthquake resistance will not only reduce building damage and human casualties in the event of an earthquake, but also reduce the need for evacuation shelters and support supplies, speeding up recovery and reconstruction, and reducing costs.
Therefore, in order to reduce the number of people affected by earthquake damage, we
・A society where construction companies and remodeling companies routinely propose earthquake resistance.
・A society where consumers proactively consult about earthquake resistance when remodeling
・A society where local governments create subsidy systems that are easy for consumers to use
To achieve this goal, we will continue our educational activities to make wooden houses earthquake resistant.

Who would have imagined that their “dream home” could become a deadly weapon? With the desire to change this situation, we established the Mokutaikyo.
For the past 26 years, I have continued to work as a member of the Mokutai Kyokai, but every time a major earthquake occurs, I feel that there is still work left to do.
People don’t die from earthquakes, but from building collapses, etc. That’s why we, together with our union members who are construction companies and remodeling companies nationwide,
We will continue our activities to realize “earthquake-resistant Japan.” “April Dream” is a project by PR TIMES in which companies broadcast their dreams that they hope to eventually come true on April 1st. We are seriously aiming to make this dream come true.
