*Entries start from April 1, 2024 Triathlon tournament set in Lake Biwa, Shiga* LAKE BIWA TRIATHLON Executive Committee (main operator: CEEPO International Co., Ltd. (Executive Committee Chairman: Nobuyuki Tanaka) is a middle-distance triathlon event held in Lake Biwa, Shiga Prefecture. 2024” will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Entries for the tournament will start from 19:00 on Monday, April 1, 2024.
The concept of the tournament, set on Japan’s largest lake, Lake Biwa, is “The ultimate challenge, with everyone playing the leading role.” The main players are the participating players, local residents, volunteers, tournament staff, sponsors, and supporters. We aim to contribute to “sustainability” by hosting the tournament, and we will create a new way of regional revitalization by co-creating various entities through sports. We will create the best stage in Lake Biwa with the best challenge of all the players and the support of the local people.

TRIATHLON” started in 2021 with the desire to hold a triathlon race on Lake Biwa where athletes from all over the world participate, and this year marks the 4th event.
The main concept of the tournament is “Everyone is the leading role.” We believe that not only the participating players, but also the volunteer marshals (TO), the staff who support the tournament, the host and local residents, the sponsors, and all those who support us are the “main players.” We will create the best stage in Lake Biwa with the best challenge of all the players and the support of the local people.
In addition, one of the concepts of this event is “sustainability,” and various entities such as participants, local regions, businesses, and local governments will co-create the sport of triathlon and the event as “everyone plays a leading role.” We aim to contribute to a sustainable society through this event.
Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, where this tournament will be held, has created a “town where entrepreneurs gather” as a pillar of regional revitalization.

This event will also be held as the “2024 JTU Triathlon Age Group National Championship Series.” Finishers will be awarded points common to all series events. (JTU registration is required to participate in Age NCS)
■ A fascinating course where you can swim, run, and run through Lake Biwa This tournament is set on Japan’s largest lake, Lake Biwa, and courses include Moriyama City, Yasu City, and Omihachiman City in Shiga Prefecture. A 1.9km swim course at Lake Biwa, a 20km round trip road along the shore of Lake Biwa, and an 80km bike course that loops along the Yasu River and through the rural landscape of Moriyama City, with views of Lake Biwa and the mountains of Hiei in the background. This is a middle distance course consisting of a 20km run course surrounded by hope and cheers from the local community.
The course for this event begins with a swim in Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest lake, which sparked Japan’s triathlon boom, and includes the lakeside road that runs along the shore of Lake Biwa, the Yasu River, a first-class river, Mt. Mikami, also known as Omi Fuji, and Mt. Moriyama. This is a run that consists of riding a motorcycle through the city’s agricultural roads, enjoying the support of people along the way, looking at the peak of Hiei, and feeling the breeze of Lake Biwa.

* ■ About the venue: Moriyama City and Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture * In this area full of nature, you can encounter various creatures such as rape blossoms and sunflowers with the Hira Mountains in the background, cherry blossoms lining the embankment of the Yasu River, cosmos in the peaceful countryside, and fireflies representing the beauty of nature. The city is also blessed with a wealth of historical and cultural heritage, including Moriyama-juku, which prospered as a post town during the Edo period, and the ruins and burial mounds of Yasu, where many bronze bells were excavated. Most of the city area is flat and the climate is mild, so it is famous as a production area of Omi rice, and there are various special products such as Moriyama melon and Omi tea.

Traffic restrictions will be implemented and traffic congestion is expected.
