The Sugadaira Kogen Snow Resort, operated by Harle Ski Resort Co., Ltd. (located in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, President and CEO: Yoshinobu Sato), a member of the Japan Ski Resort Development Co., Ltd. group, has closed its business period for the 2023-2024 winter season in the past. We are pleased to announce that some courses will be open for extended periods until April 21st, the longest period in 10 years.

At Sugadaira Kogen Snow Resort, the winter season usually ends in late March, but in order to prevent light snow in a warm winter, they introduced an artificial snow-making machine that creates icy snow last fall, and as a result of the high temperatures. We are
maintaining the condition of the slopes by creating ice particles, and we have begun efforts to open our ski slopes 15 days earlier than last year, allowing us to operate over a long season.
At the same time, we are also offering skiing content that you can enjoy in spring, such as discount campaigns with season tickets from other ski resorts and private rentals of bumps and poles.

Business extension period/course
The slope with extended business hours is the Ura Taro slope family course. We are planning to extend our business hours from April 1st to April 21st. It is a ski resort that is easily accessible from the metropolitan area and is easy to use on a day trip as it is only 30 minutes from the nearest IC.

Sugadaira Kogen is a frigid region that can sometimes be the coldest in Japan, and the ski resort is open from early December every year. However, in recent years, due to climate change, there are many warmer days and the snowfall season is delayed in some seasons, leading to concerns that the operating period of ski resorts may be shortened. Sugadaira Kogen Snow Resort opened last season as usual, but the season was short due to low snowfall and ski resorts closing early. Therefore, in order to allow our customers to enjoy themselves even in seasons when snowfall is not expected, and while taking advantage of Sugadaira’s cold weather, we have decided to introduce a snowmaking machine that can efficiently make snow even during periods when artificial snowmaking machines cannot be used.
