Atsuko Nagai, a native of Fukushima Prefecture, worked at an advertising company in the Tokyo metropolitan area after graduating from a university in Aomori. I decided to join the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team because I wanted to do work related to the local community in Tohoku. I came across a call for a local venture development project in Hirosaki, and was deeply interested in a project related to apples, so I decided to take on the mission of increasing the number of apple farmers. Since April 2019, he has been appointed as the “Agriculture Director” who is responsible for efforts to sustain the apple industry. However, I thought that without actually experiencing apple growing myself, I wouldn’t know what the challenges and attractions were, so by chance I rented an apple orchard and “Hibinos Apple Farm” was started.
