Answering the “why?” questions of managers, bosses, and women themselves Last year, the government called on TSE Prime-listed companies to raise the ratio of female executives to 30% by 2030 in the “Women’s Strongest Policy 2023”. While the number of companies that are serious about training and promoting female leaders as part of their growth strategy is increasing year by year, the ratio of female executives nationwide still remains at a level of 10.6% (*), so it is important to renew efforts. This is a call for reinforcement. One of the factors that may be making it difficult for companies to make progress in their efforts is the difficulty of gaining
understanding from within the company. When implementing measures specific to women, it is not uncommon to hear voices within the company saying, “Aren’t we giving too much preferential treatment?” and “Isn’t that enough?” As we strengthen our efforts in the future, many people in charge may be worried about how to approach and proceed within the company.
Therefore, this time, with the title “Seminar to solve the problems of DE&I managers,” Yuki Ota of Cycom Brains, who has been supporting the promotion of DE&I in companies for many years, will give an overview of domestic trends regarding the development and promotion of female leaders. We will explain its significance from two perspectives: “benefits for management and organizations” and “issues unique to women,” and provide tips for gaining understanding and cooperation from within the company. We will also introduce specific actions you can take to advance your company’s efforts.
*As of July 31, 2023. Targeting all listed companies. From the Cabinet Office “Status of female executives in listed companies”
