Mirairo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, President and CEO: Toshiya Kakiuchi) has announced that due to the revised Act on Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, which will be enforced in April 2024, reasonable consideration for persons with disabilities will be mandatory. In February 2024, we invited guests and held a seminar on the theme of “What companies are now looking for in dealing with people with disabilities.” This seminar attracted a lot of attention, with over 200 companies participating. Afterwards, we received many requests from people who were unable to attend on the day and wanted to watch the recording, as well as requests to share it within the company, so we decided to make it available on-demand.
Seminar overview
In April 2024, the revised Act on Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities came into effect, making it a legal obligation for private businesses to provide reasonable accommodation. At the same time, the legal employment rate for people with
disabilities was raised from 2.3% to 2.5%. In response to these changes in the environment surrounding people with disabilities, we introduced what companies are currently doing to accommodate people with disabilities. In addition, this seminar welcomed guests Mr. Yuio Kikuchi, Chairman and Representative Director of Royal Holdings Co., Ltd., and Mr. Chika Chika, Representative Director of Bay Hills Co., Ltd., and had a panel discussion with Mirairo representative Kakiuchi, “Responses required of companies now. We had a discussion about “. Representative Kakiuchi gave a speech at the beginning, touching on the differences between the revised Act on Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, which will come into effect in April 2024, and the Act on Employment Promotion of Persons with Disabilities. We provided an overview of how this legal reform will affect companies, what they need to do, and the penalties for failing to do so.
In addition, in addition to reporting the results of the 2nd fact-finding survey regarding reasonable accommodation conducted by the Reasonable Accommodation Promotion Committee in July 2023, Mirairo also provides services such as “Universal Manners Test” and “Mirairo ID. We introduce the efforts of companies that have introduced “.

・Understanding of the Act to Eliminate Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities has not caught up.
・I want to re-understand the Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities.
・I want to anticipate risks in advance.
・I want to know how companies that did not respond were affected. ・I want to know the key points of measures that can be taken now. ・I want to know the key points of reasonable accommodation.
・I want to know about other companies’ cases.
Participants’ comments
●I thought I understood reasonable accommodation, but by listening to the case studies, I was able to understand what the parties were really concerned about.
●I felt it was important to “start with what management knows and then make it a common language.” I felt that unless the management, rather than the members, established a certain direction and used a common language within the company, it would be difficult to understand who was saying what in areas where knowledge was limited.
●I was given a very easy-to-understand explanation of what I should be working on and how I should think as a person in charge, and I think I was able to see what I should be aware of from now on.
