Our findings show that organizations with mature IM strategies are 1.5 times more likely to realize the impact and benefits of AI
implementation than those with less mature strategies. However, few organizations recognize the value of information management in AI success. In 2024, organizations are significantly increasing their investments in AI, with 83% planning to increase their AI investments and 79% investing in licensed AI such as Copilot for Microsoft 365. Additionally, 60% of organizations plan to allocate at least a quarter of their technology budget to AI over the next five years. However, fewer than half (46%) of organizations have in-house AI-specific training, meaning employees are still not equipped to use cutting-edge technology safely and efficiently. “As organizations increase their investments in AI, a comprehensive and integrated accountability program for both data privacy management and AI governance becomes even more important,” emphasized Bojana Bellamy, Director of CIPL. There are concerns that AI will exacerbate the challenges
organizations already face if they do not establish or adapt their IM strategies.
In light of this, our survey results show that 77% of organizations recognize the need to implement additional strategies to keep up in the AI era, which we consider a promising step in the right direction. You can.
