On-chip Droplet is a system that can analyze, separate, and dispense individual microorganisms in large quantities.

The treatment process begins by creating a micro-culture compartment called a “Droplet” containing microorganisms, culturing and reacting for an arbitrary period of time, and using it for screening. Evaluation criteria include microbial growth ability and substance production ability. Using the principles of flow cytometry, a laser is irradiated onto flowing water-in-oil droplets to obtain scattered light and fluorescence information. Based on the acquired information, the target water droplets in oil are separated by applying a momentary pulse flow to the collection port.
The issue of individual dispensing of water droplets in oil was resolved by doing it immediately after sorting. Immediately aspirate the separated water-in-oil droplets with a pipette tip and transfer them to a microwell plate, dispensing one droplet per well. Processing 1 million water droplets in oil can be completed in about 1 hour. The equipment is also equipped with units that provide a clean working environment, such as HEPA filters.
