Noboribetsu City, Hokkaido. Both began learning the shamisen at the age of five, and in 1990 studied under Takashi Sasaki, the first generation Tsugaru shamisen player. He rose to prominence at the national Tsugaru shamisen tournament and made his major debut with the 1999 album “Ibuki.” They have recorded an unprecedented hit in the Japanese music world, and since their US debut in 2003, they have actively performed in various countries around the world and collaborated with various artists both domestically and
internationally. In 2015, the song “PRANA” was released in collaboration with the “Naruto Exhibition to Commemorate the Completion of the Series” and became a hot topic. In addition, Ryoichiro started a new pure Japanese music unit “WASABI” that focuses on school performances using representative Japanese instruments, and Kenichi became active after staying in Barcelona, Spain as a cultural exchange envoy from the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2015. Started teaching Tsugaru shamisen at the Barcelona Conservatoire.
