NPO CAP Center/JAPAN Online “Continuous Seminar on Prevention of Sexual Violence against Children with Intel lectual and Developmental Disabilities 2024” held

Specified non-profit organization CAP Center JAPAN
Online “Continuous Seminar 2024 on Preventing Sexual Violence against Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities” held ……
It is not easy for our society to become aware of sexual violence against children with disabilities. This is due to the fact that sexual violence itself is hidden and those involved are forced to remain silent, as well as the existence of incorrect social beliefs and prejudices regarding disabilities.
CAP Center JAPAN provides preventive education for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities so that they can have rich interactions with others: the Prevention of Violence Against Children/CAP Program, and the Safety of Social Interactions/Circles Program. Based on these, we will be offering a course in 2021 that will unravel the tangled issues related to sexual violence and create a “safe base” where people who take the first steps to prevent sexual violence against children can demonstrate their strengths and support them. It has been held since. This year, the fourth year, we will extend the time by 30 minutes, and we will continue to slowly learn from each other in a total of 7 lectures.

“Daily communication” with children with disabilities plays a major role in early detection, early support, and even recovery when thinking about preventing sexual violence. From April 1st of this year, “reasonable accommodation” is required for private businesses as well. Therefore, we will set up a 20-minute “Communication Support” corner to think about self-advocacy for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Through the introduction of tools and case studies, we will expand ideas for communication that will not allow supporters to give up and will not allow children with disabilities to give up.

We promote and raise awareness of social education related to the prevention of violence against children, and train practitioners of the CAP (Violence Prevention Against Children) program. Through the dissemination of the CAP program, we aim to foster children’s own human rights awareness and promote collaboration between families, schools, and local communities, thereby creating a society that does not tolerate any violence against children and where children’s human rights are respected. I am.
