Kyukamura, a resort filled with nature
A secret mixed outdoor bath in Iwate Prefecture, Amihari Onsen “Senyo no Yu” will open this season from May 7, 2024 (Tuesday)! It is an open-air bath with a rustic sulfur spring that even Kenji Miyazawa bathed in.
……
At the resort hotel “Kyukamura Iwate Amihari Onsen” (location: Nagayama, Shizukuishi-cho, Iwate-gun, Iwate Prefecture, general manager: Kisuke Takeuchi), located at the southern foot of Mt. We will begin operations on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. There are many traditional hot spring inns in Towada-Hachimantai National Park, including Amihari Onsen, and the businesses have preserved the historically and culturally valuable “mixed bathing culture,” and there are no differences between men and women. I’m enjoying the hot springs.

◆Amihari Onsen “Senjo-no-Yu” About 200 meters from the hotel, “Senme-no-Yu” is located at the bottom of the stairs that lead through the forest to the “Yunozawa” valley. In the 1960s, while exploring the mountain behind the hotel, the staff found a waterfall in the stream, and people started talking, saying, “If there was an open-air bath in this location, it would be really nice.” Their wish came true. “Senjo no Yu” was born. It was built by hand as heavy machinery could not be accessed on the mountain path, but now it is featured in tourist pamphlets as the symbol of Shizukuishi Town’s hot springs.

After passing through the men’s and women’s changing huts, there is a bathtub made of stacked rocks, which is a mixed bath. We also offer rental bathing suits (300 yen per suit). This is a mixed outdoor bath where you can enjoy the sound of Kametaki Waterfall flowing beyond the bathtub, and enjoy a close-up view of the waterfall while soaking.
