Momoko Kikuchi, who debuted in 1984 and raced through the forefront as a top idol representing the 80s, is celebrating her 40th anniversary this year. She captivated all of Japan with her soft smile and whispery singing voice, and at the age of 17, she held a performance at the Nippon Budokan the year after her debut, setting the record for being the youngest performer at the time. The single “GRADUATION” released in the same year was his first to reach number 1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart, and since then, his seven works have been number 1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart.
She received high acclaim in various fields as a singer and an actor, and quickly won numerous awards such as the 17th Japan Record Sales Awards: Female Newcomer Award, the 26th Japan Record Awards: Newcomer Award, and the Elandor Award: Newcomer Award. She has risen to become a top idol both in name and reality.
