They are also known as the chestnuts presented to Emperor Showa, and at the time, production exceeded 100 tons, but due to aging, depopulation, and old chestnut trees, the harvest is now only about one-third. I did.
Meanwhile, in April of this year, we received GI certification (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries). Anticipating further growth in demand from this fiscal year, Noramoe Co., Ltd. is working on production and sales preparations for Yamae Chestnuts.

Nora Co., Ltd. mainly cultivates chili peppers, wood ear mushrooms, sweet chili peppers, and mountain chestnuts. As mentioned earlier, Yamae Village is located in a mountainous area, and the agricultural area is only 4% of the total area. Therefore, we select, produce, and sell crops that are easy to manage on limited land and that are easy to pursue profit. In addition to the traditional online sales for individuals, the sales route has shifted to direct wholesale sales to restaurants and confectionery shops within and outside the prefecture, as well as sales to corporations. We hope that this will increase profits and lead to job creation for young people in Yamae Village. Amacho chili peppers are being planted. As a seasonal item, it is in high demand from restaurants such as yakitori restaurants.
In addition, the current mayor of Yamae Village made a “Zero Carbon City Declaration” in December 2020, and we are actively working on decarbonization. At Nora Co., Ltd., we are promoting decarbonization in the agricultural field, such as “biochar” that utilizes agricultural waste such as rice husks, pruned chestnut branches, burs, and wood ear mushroom beds, and “extending the mid-drying period in rice fields.” We strive to protect the environment and create new added value.
