StockGraphy Co., Ltd. (Taito-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Hideyuki Sakaguchi) is developing 3D digital archives for the National Museum of Nature and Science, and is working to develop important cultural properties such as the Troughton Astronomical Telescope, the Milne Horizontal Pendulum Seismometer, and Ewing’s Recitation. I was in charge of high-precision 3D scanning and 3D model optimization for the machine.
These 3D models are available in an experiential format on the National Museum of Nature and Science’s Sketchfab account.
In the future, we plan to publish the 3D model optimization workflow on BEGIN3D.com with the aim of disseminating technologies related to 3D scanning and 3D model optimization and expanding partnerships such as joint development with various organizations.

In this case, we succeeded in high-precision 3D scanning of a complex shape that included many materials that were difficult to 3D scan. This 3D scan was realized by appropriately using RealityCapture and various capture equipment, and by engineers with advanced scanning technology (*1).
In addition, in this case, the highest granularity of optimization work was performed to maintain the complex shape details of the high-precision 3D scan model, or to increase the precision while supporting real-time display of web3D.
This web3D optimization workflow will be published on BEGIN3D.com at a later date with the aim of disseminating the technology and expanding partnerships such as joint development with various organizations. [Completed 3D model / Sketchfab display]
