Jimoty Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Company), which operates the local information site “Jimoty” (hereinafter referred to as Jimoty), is running the “Jimoty Sustainable Fashion Project” (hereinafter referred to as the Project), which aims to realize a recycling-oriented society through the collection and transfer of used clothing. let’s start doing …. The first round of used clothing collection events under this project will be held in collaboration with Sonamira Co., Ltd., and the collected used clothing will be exhibited on Jimoty for reuse.

Our company operates Jimoty based on the management philosophy of “visualizing the current state of the region and connecting people to the future.” In recent years, we have also implemented offline initiatives such as signing agreements with local governments and developing reuse bases jointly operated by the public and private sectors, and have achieved a large amount of waste reduction. On the other hand, in society, many things that can still be used are discarded as garbage, and we believe that we need to continue collaborating with various stakeholders to carry out activities aimed at reducing garbage and creating a recycling-oriented society. The installation of used clothes collection boxes that we are announcing this time is one of our efforts to reduce waste in collaboration with companies. According to the Ministry of the Environment, of the amount of clothing disposed of as combustible and non-combustible garbage, the amount that is incinerated or sent to landfills is approximately 450,000 tons per year, which translates to approximately 120 large trucks worth of garbage being incinerated every day.・It is supposed to be landfilled*. By participating in this initiative, tie-up companies can not only take action to address major social issues, but also use it to attract customers to their stores and build connections with local communities.

From April 25, 2024, we have set up a used clothing collection box exclusively for children’s clothing for this project at the Sonamira Jiyugaoka store (Meguro-ku, Tokyo). We will notify people in the vicinity of the store, mainly Jimoty users, and collect reusable children’s clothing. The collected children’s clothes will be handed over to those who wish to collect them by posting them on Jimoty.
